I have been fitting specialty lenses for over 40 years and have participated in many national and provincial organizations as an advisor, board member and consultant. I have been a guest lecturer, in all but 2 of Canadian provinces, on topics ranging from professional office practice to specialty applications of scleral lenses. I am a Johnson & Johnson Professional Affairs Consultant, past president of the Alberta Contact Lens Practitioner's Association, recipient of the Alberta Opticians Association 'Optician of The Year' award in 1995, former instructor of the Contact Lens Program at NAIT. My wife Moni, and myself, started Thompson Optics LTD., in Edmonton, Alberta in 1989 and although we sold the practice 6 years ago, I still attend specialty scleral lens patients about 15-20 hours per week. We live on a 40 acre horse ranch east of Edmonton and enjoy the company of our horses and assorted dogs and cats.
